Emily Burns

Emily is the Patient Advocacy Lead for AstraZeneca UK. She is responsible for AstraZeneca UK’s advocacy efforts with patient communities and health charities across a range of long-term conditions. This includes building partnerships to improve patient outcomes and health equity, ensuring work is informed by lived experience and patient perspectives, and building trusted dialogue with patient groups.

Prior to her roles in patient advocacy and scientific communications for AstraZeneca, Emily worked in the UK health charity and university sectors focused on the public understanding of science, patient & public involvement, and public and community engagement. Emily’s passion for public engagement began during her PhD in biochemistry, which was funded by Cancer Research UK.
